Argyle: a very silly pattern

For the last week of June. This is a lesson I have been trying to learn, and had it rubbed in my face tonight by a guy who is right but also kind of an ass. So be the crazy argyle of the world... not the boring green plaid! In other words be your self; do it your way. Sometimes I have to be reminded, which is kind of sad I suppose. I guess tonight I kind of felt like argyle?

A Skull soaked in Blood

For the week in June towards the end. This week I have been working on a project referencing the Loteria Cards and Día de los Muertos so playing with skulls worked it's way into the poster.

"Keep Calm and Carry On"

After completing last week's poster referencing the "Keep calm and carry on" vintage WWII posters, I was rather shocked upon learning that we would be painting it as a mural that weekend. The mural was a Link Program project I was volunteering for and just so happened to include the "Keep calm and cary on' message. The original poster has a really interesting history which you can read about here.

Below are more iterations of this poster I found recently:

Giant Squid and Wine Tasting Rain.

Two to show you this week:

This poster created in early May. It was probably the quickest poster I've done so far. But what else can you say about Giant Squids.

In addition to the challenge: this poster took much of my time this week. This is the poster for Sasquatch but even though it is mailed off, it's still not where I wanted it to be. The text drops are all hand drawn.

Green starts to fade as May Begins

For the week beginning in April and ending in May 2009. This was a kind of dare: do something with an octopus and make it a pirate. What do you think?

Too Much Sun today? Never!

Created for the week of April 21 2009. Started with the idea about birds tweeting a cute little message. But then the elephant and some sun light attacked my head. A good message for head and the job search.

April by Theme and Green

For the week containing April 16th. Keeping with the theme that seems to be take over this month: Green. I started thinking about doing a "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle," or as I saw in Singapore: "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rebuild," or a "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Compost" poster. So while I was working on building up the green, I started listening to a "Stuff Mom Never Told You" pod-cast about your brain and wanting to buy things. Which lead to thoughts about how I don't ware half the shoes I own, mainly due to the fact they need to be repaired. Anyway I think you can see where that lead...

Will post sasquatch poster sketches soon! Cheers.

Green For April

Created April 1st. After a weekend participating in Earth hour and going to the Green Festival it seemed appropriate to create something for Earth Day, which is coming up soon. Read The Lorax and go plant a tree.

March Poster 4

Created March 26th. When I started this poster I was thinking about the background patterns of the beautiful paintings in "Garden and Cosmos: The Royal Painting of Jodhpur" a show I recently saw at the Seattle Asian Art Museum. I started off working on the pattern but things kind of went awry when my thoughts turned to rummage sales.

March Poster 3

Created 3rd week of March for a Circus theme Birthday Party. It was used for invites and my boyfriend printed it on to a t-shirt to be the poster boy.
